About Us

  • Char Dham is a set of four pilgrimage sites in India. It is believed that visiting these sites helps achieve moksha. The four Dhams are Badrinath, Dwarka, puri and Rameshwaram. It is believed that every Hindu should visit the Char Dhams during one’s lifetime.
  • The Char Dham as defined by Adi Sankaracharya consists of four Hindu pilgrimage sites. These main ‘dhamas’ are the shrines of Lord Vishnu and Rameshwaram is a shrine of lord Shiva. All the ‘dhamas’ are related to four epochs,
    (1) Dham of Satyuga- Badrinath, Uttarakhand
    (2) Dham of Tretayuga -Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu
    (3) Dham of Dwaparayuga – Dvaraka, Gujarat
    (4) Dham of Kaliyuga – Jagannatha Puri, Odisha.

Chhota Chardham Destinations

Another circuit of four ancient pilgrimage sites in the Indian state of Uttarakhand viz. Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath is referred to as Chota Char Dham to differentiate it from this bigger circuit of Char Dham sites. The Chota Char Dham shrines are closed in winter due to snowfall and reopen for pilgrims with the advent of summer

Religious Tours

Religious tourism, spiritual tourism, sacred tourism, or faith tourism, is a type of tourism with two main subtypes: pilgrimage, meaning travel for religious or spiritual purposes, and the viewing of religious monuments and artefacts, a branch of sightseeing.
Religious tourism has been characterised in different ways by researchers. Gisbert Rinschede distinguishes these by duration, by group size, and by social structure. Juli Gevorgian proposes two categories that differ in their motivation, namely “pilgrimage tourism” for spiritual reasons or to participate in religious rites, and “church tourism” to view monuments such as cathedrals.
Pilgrimage is spiritually- or religiously motivated travel, sometimes over long distances; it has been practised since antiquity and in several of the world’s religions. The world’s largest mass religious assemblage takes place in India at the Kumbh Mela, which attracts over 120 million pilgrims. Other major pilgrimages include the annual Hajj to Mecca, required once in a Muslim’s life.

Domestic Tours

Domestic tourism is tourism involving residents of one country traveling only within that country. Such a vacation is known as a domestic vacation. For large countries with limited skill in foreign languages, for example Russia, Brazil, Canada, Australia, United States, China and India, domestic tourism plays a very large role in the total tourism sector.

In British English this may also be called a staycation, a portmanteau of “stay” and “vacation”, although this is not to be confused the concept of a vacation in which one stays overnight at their own home. The use of the term “staycation” to refer to a domestic holiday was popularised in the late 2000s by its use in the British media in their reporting of the increase in such tourism during the Great Recession when the weakness in the pound made travel abroad more expensive.
