On-Spot Registration for Shri Amarnath Yatra 2023

As per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) framed on the directions of Supreme Court of India, only 20000 registered Shri Amarnath Yatra pilgrims are allowed beyond Pehlgam and Baltal in a day (that include 10000 each from Baltal track and Pahalgam track).

For the convenience of the pilgrims, for their onward journey to the pilgrimage to Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine, Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) also considers to open “On-Spot Registration Centres” if the Yatra Registration for the day is below the prescribed limit of 20,000 registrations.

Last year a Token System was introduced for providing hassle free On Spot Registration facility in Jammu. This was informed by the Deputy Commissioner Jammu, during a meeting. He also informed that Tokens will be provided to the pilgrims at Sangam Banquet Hall (SRTC Hall) near Jammu Railway Station along with Registration Form, Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC), Information Brochure and Instruction Manual.

District administration has introduced this token system so that the limited quota of On Spot Registration is utilized judiciously and the rush can be managed without causing inconvenience to the pilgrims.

Last year three On Spot Registration Counters have been established at Vaishnavi Dham and Sarasvati Dham at Railway Station and Mahajan Sabha Community Hall near Ranbireshwar Temple at Shalamar Road in Jammu.

Pilgrims who have already registered need not take these tokens and can directly proceed for Shri Amarnathji Yatra.

Deputy Commissioner has also informed that a person/ pilgrim can take only two tokens, provided she/ he produces the requisite Identity Proof of second family member.

The On-spot Registration Centres are setup to help un-registered pilgrims of Shri Amarnathji from all over the country to get them registered here before proceeding to the Holy Cave Shrine.

Pilgrims should still prefer to get registration from their respective areas well in advance and should try not to leave for Yatra with the aniticipation to go for ‘On-spot Registration’ as it may cause them inconvenience because one might be required to stand in the queue for quite some time as large gatherings are usually seen at On-spot Registration Centres.

Various departments including Police, Traffic, Tourism department from Lakhanpur (the entry point to Jammu & Kashmir state) to Jammu take the task to make the pilgrims aware through public announcements, pamphlets, banners and display on LCD screens that unregistered pilgrims would not be allowed to go for Shri Amarnath Yatra and therefore, Yatris are advised to avoid such practices in their own interest.
